The nurse and aides were responsible to serve dinner and feed patients, they could not control patients as they kept getting up and walking around. The staff looked burnt out and it was a horrible site. There is lack of activities, the activity room was not inviting at all and I was told that on the activity they had on that day was to watch a movie, that is not stimulating enough for dementia unit. It is not a safe environment, if you care for your loved one look elsewhere. I wish I could move in my mother into my facility but because I am the manager there it is not allowed. We have already moved into The Barrington.

The shuttle Bus is now very expensive and an extra fee. The dining room is only open 2 evenings a week with the explanation that they cannot find employees to hire. The food choices, preparation and quality has declined with the new ownership. Our parents are not happy there anymore, due to their regular disappointments and upsets about the negative changes. The Housekeeping Crew is pathetic inadequate.
They could not even tell us what their policy or procedures are during COVID. We had to move my Mother into a Hotel in order for her to retain her Caregiver, we then moved her into a new facility and they have been over the moon helpful! The Barrington is beautiful from the outside, however I would not take my loved one there ever again!!!!! In this situation you DO NOT get what you pay for! I have watched a ton of staff leave over the last 5 yrs! This facility has Independent living, Assisted living Skilled care and Memory care.

We went to The Barrington of Carmel many times because we had friends there. It’s brand new, and they have a lot of outside entertainment that they bring in for the residents. This place is expensive, and you have to buy in if you want to live here. I''ve been on a search for a home for my mother and I went to tour the facility over the weekend on their dementia unit. I was greatly appalled as to what I observed, I choose to go at dinner time as it is the peak for sun downing and weekend when management is not around. I was told that they have 28 beds, 1 nurse and 3 aides, but when I visited there were only 2 aides as they were running short and 26 patients.

So, they had to take their laundry down there or they could have it done for them. The rooms themselves were in adequate size. There was a nursing station on every floor. It was centered right near the elevator where you could see on and off the floor and still had the care for my mom as needed.
